New stadium plans in progress for South Shields

South Shields have revealed their latest plans to develop their home ground at Mariners Park, with an application of a new 902-seat stand submitted to South Tyneside Council.

The club submitted their latest plans to the council earlier this week in their latest goal to ‘improve match day experience’.

The BetVictor Premier Division side are also hoping to ensure Mariners Park is football-league ready, with the club looking for promotion with four wins in their opening five fixtures in 2019/20 season.

Also included in the application are plans to build a new multi-use sports hall and community hub at Mariners Park.

“This planning application forms an important part of our strategy to develop the club and its charitable Foundation,” said club chairman Geoff Thompson.

“I strongly believe the club has an important role to play in promoting health and well-being for children and adults across our borough, and this application will assist in delivering the capacity and infrastructure required to continue our success.”
