New striker at FC United of Manchester

Former Stoke City youngster Max McCarthy has joined FC United of Manchester.

As well as appearing for the Potters’ U23s side, the talented forward also spent time on loan at Pitching In NPL West Division side Kidsgrove Athletic last season.

He has featured heavily for FC United in pre-season and particularly caught the eye as the club won the inaugural Bulls Cup, beating Jersey Bulls 6-1 in St Helier.

McCarthy also scored the Goal of the Tournament, amassing over 60% of the votes.

“It’s been brilliant. I’ve got on really well with everyone since coming here,” he said.

“I think I’m quite a diverse player. I know I’m 6’5, but I think I can also do a lot of running and work hard for the team.

“Winning games and trophies is what I want to do, and obviously get promoted, so I’m happy to help the team in any way I can.”
