No rush over next appointment

By David Watters

Colwyn Bay are planning to take their time over finding the right manager to turn around their fortunes and lead them into the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League next season, whatever division they are playing in.

The Seagulls have set a deadline of Friday 22 April as the closing date for applications for the post at Llanelian Road with a second successive relegation looking likely to be confirmed in the next week and after two managerial appointments in the past 11 months have failed to arrest their downward slide.

With the season coming to a close and senior players Carl Rodgers and Luke Denson holding the fort since Kevin Lynch's dismissal at Easter following a run of poor results, Colwyn Bay chairman Dave Titchiner told fans on Sunday that they will be taking their time over such an important decision after setting the deadline for potential candidates to come forward.

Titchiner said: "We have already had a number of people showing interest but we are not going to rush into a decision. We want to advertise the manager's position, see what that brings and then sit down as a board to discuss who we think is the best man to turn the fortunes of the team around."

After the wholesale changes Lynch made to the squad of his predecessor Ashley Hoskin and after a turnover of nearly 60 players, the Seagulls chairman also told fans that the successful candidate's first priority would be bringing some stability back to the club.

He added: "It is important a new manager can bring some stability and put together the nucleus of a squad that will stay together through next season and hopefully the season after to help us rebuild a winning side that will bring back the spectators we have lost this season and hopefully get us back to where we were two seasons ago when we finished 12th in the Conference North and were on the fringe of the play-off places at one stage."

Potential candidates should send their applications by email to: info@4crosses.co.uk. Applications can also be made by post to FAO Dave Titchiner, 4 Crosses Construction Ltd, Unit 2, Brittania House, Four Crosses, Menai Bridge, Anglesey LL59 5RW.
