NPLFA thank trialists for turning out

By David Watters

The Northern Premier League Football Academy's coaches have sent their thanks to the young players and their families who attended this week's trials for next year's intake.

The NPLFA's coaches and tutors hailed a bumper turnout on Friday after nearly two hundred youngsters hoping to combine football with their education took the first chance of the season to join the ground-breaking league wide academy in 2018-19.

The NPLFA's staff are now looking forward to hosting more trials over over the course of the campaign for students currently in in Year 11 and Year 12 after the success of the October half-term sessions.

A spokesman said: "The first week of trials are over so register now at nplfa.co.uk/register to make sure you do not miss out! Thanks to all interested applicants and their parents and guardians who have attended our eleven trials this week and also to all our coaches.

"We saw a fantastic turnout of over 170 across our academies and the next ones are in late November, early December. We will be announcing those dates soon and there will also be extra sessions for Mossley and Witton Albion next Friday for those who are off next week."

The NPLFA was founded with the backing of the Football Association at five pilot clubs in September 2014 to provide career pathways into the football industry with youngsters studying on two year BTEC courses while being trained on a daily basis by UEFA qualified coaches and competing in the NPL Youth League and national competitions like the FA Youth Cup.

Now expanded to 12 member clubs and still the only league wide academy in English football combining football with further education, the NPLFA is offering its fourth intake of students this season the chance to continue their education to degree level after teaming up with Loughborough College to launch a new higher education partnership.
