NQ joins NPL as preferred partner

By James Gordon

The Northern Premier League welcomes the return of football with a new partnership with NQ.

NQ is a mobile-ordering app that enables fans to purchase food and drink using contactless payment at matches and then collect it in a COVID-19 secure manner.

It is one of a number of initiatives from the league aimed at supporting clubs in their efforts to adapt to the new normal, and the various social distancing and COVID-19 related requirements of hosting matches with fans, as well as helping to maintain and grow revenues.

David Chinejani COO, NQ explained: “We are delighted to have achieved preferred supplier status with the Northern Premier League and look forward to working in partnership with the league and all its member clubs.

“The NQ app is a tried and tested app set up originally as a convenience app for the sports and hospitality industry. It lends itself to the current restrictions due to social distancing and can help clubs welcome fans back; and beyond COVID-19 continue to provide a convenient ‘online’ option for ordering and buying food and drink. Clubs benefit from a free installation of an iPad, used to manage and fulfil orders, alongside their menus being uploaded to the app. Additionally, clubs could benefit from cost savings of having sales go through the app as the club would not have the card payment processing charges seen by their conventional sales.

“Customers download the NQ app and order from your menu. Payment is automatic, secure and contactless. Collection from the bar, collection from collection points or table service technology that keeps staff, drinkers and diners safe.

“Initial feedback from clubs has been excellent and I’m pleased to confirm that we have already installed at Radcliffe FC and Belper Town and have installs scheduled for Prescot Cables, Hyde United and Kidsgrove Athletic. We look forward to further discussions with clubs over the coming weeks and just as a reminder we are able to provide further demonstrations of the App to any club that would like to find out more.”

NPL Chairman Mark Harris added: “The Northern Premier League is delighted to be working with NQ, especially at this difficult time for our clubs. The NQ app will help our clubs to maximise revenues from their clubhouses whilst ensuring their supporters’ safety.”

The league continues to work on other initiatives, including live streaming, online ticketing and digital programmes; as well as support for the return of football and the further lifting of capacity restrictions.
