Paddy in the pegs for Celtic

Goalkeeper Paddy Wharton made his Stalybridge Celtic debut at the weekend after joining on loan from Tranmere.

Wharton, 18, made his first team debut for the Football League Two club earlier this month, playing the full 90 minutes in a 6-0 loss to Shrewsbury Town in the Football League Trophy.

He pulled off a number of fine saves on debut as Stalybridge drew 2-2 with Farsley Celtic in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division on Saturday.

The teenager is with the club for a month’s loan, and has previously spent time with Colwyn Bay.

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed James Aspinall has returned to Bolton Wanderers.
