Partners deliver promotion bonus!

Hyde United are looking forward to spending a thousand pound windfall from the EVO-STIK League’s official pitch partners at GreenFields on sports equipment to celebrate promotion to the EVO-STIK League’s top flight.

The Tigers, who went unbeaten at home winning promotion from EVO-STIK League North on a GreenFields MX woven pitch, were presented with a cheque by the turf experts to mark the turnaround in their fortunes since converting from a natural grass pitch to their 3G surface back in August 2016.

Apart from Darren Kelly's first team being able to both train and play on the surface at Ewen Fields, in less than two years they’ve seen their revenue increase substantially as a result of pitch bookings while starting their bounce back from consecutive relegations.

GreenFields are coming to the end of their first season as the Northern Premier League’s official pitch partners and were delighted to reward the Tigers as the turf specialists prepare to hand out their inaugural Pitch of the Year Awards this summer.

GreenFields director Paul Milton said: “We couldn’t be happier for Hyde United, they are a fantastic community club and have transformed themselves over the last two seasons which we are pleased to hear is partly due to the 3G pitch. Next season will see them play in the EVO-STIK Premier Division and we will be supporting them throughout and cheering them on to be successful again.”

Pictured collecting the £1,000 cheque from Milton, Hyde United’s general manager Pete Ainger said: “Coming to the end of our second season with the 3G surface, I can say with certainty that it has proved its worth both in terms of club and community benefits. It allows us to make full use of the stadium seven days a week, operating a DOE-approved Academy education during the weekdays, school and community sessions plus some commercial usage during most evenings and weekends; that will continue throughout the summer months too."

He added: “The skill, expertise and customer service from GreenFields has also been excellent. The quality of their surface is without question and tested annually to FIFA PRO quality standard; thankfully a waterlogged pitch for us is now a thing of the past!"

Appointed last summer as official pitch partners for the historic 2017-18 50th anniversary campaign, GreenFields are getting ready to unveil the top-rated surface in each of the NPL's three divisions at June’s end of season awards night after the competition's judges visited the homes of nine finalists in April.

Hednesford Town, Stourbridge and Whitby Town representing the top flight, Colwyn Bay, Tadcaster Albion and Trafford in EVO-STIK League North and Belper Town, Loughborough Dynamo and Stamford in EVO-STIK League South, are all in the running to collect the inaugural accolades at Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel on Saturday 16 June after first being nominated by their fellow clubs.

As well as the honour of being the first recipients since the league teamed up with GreenFields to offer advice on maintaining grass surfaces and surface solutions for 3G and hybrid turf pitches, the winners will also be presented with £500 vouchers to redeem against future maintenance materials or services from the specialists.
