Rushall Olympic officials are wishing new defender Sam Brooks a speedy recovery after he was rushed to hospital on his EVO-STIK League debut for the club with a suspected dislocated hip and broken ankle.
The 22-year-old was badly hurt with just six minutes to go of Saturday's Premier Division clash against Frickley Athletic and the side's drawing 1-1 at Dales Lane.
The tie was abandoned soon afterwards while he was treated on the pitch by medics as officials waited for an ambulance to arrive.
The centre-half, signed from Coalville Town on Friday after playing for the Pics in pre-season, was first feared to have broken his leg and was accompanied in the ambulance to Walsall Manor Hospital by concerned Pics president Brian Greenwood.
On Saturday night, a club spokesman said: "It looked to be a very bad injury and we're gutted for Sam and wish him a speedy recovery."
