Pitmen Begin With A Bang

Hednesford Town update

Hednesford Town Club Secretary, Terry McMahon, has hailed a hugely encouraging start to the new season both on and off the pitch under the astute guidance of Rob Smith and Larry Chambers.

The Pitmen made it three wins out of three in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division with a late one-nil victory against Chester on Saturday and the Club have unveiled their new club shop, kindly refitted from an old storage container by local Cannock haulage firm Pentalver and part funded by the HTFC Supporters Association.

McMahon stated in an interview on Monday night how proud he was of the Club’s continued progress, ‘It is great to see so many people lending their valuable time to the Football Club in whatever way they can. Bob Hartshorne and his team at Pentalver were superb in converting the container and even arranged to have it painted black and white. Thanks must also go out to Jas Singh who played an important part in setting up the partnership between Pentalver and the Club.

Pentalver recently sponsored the first home game of the season, a 3-2 win against Buxton last Tuesday, and McMahon stressed how good it was to see local businesses helping the Club despite such difficult economic times.

‘We understand how tough it is out there for Cannock and Hednesford companies but it’s good to see that people within the local area still see Hednesford Town as part of the community and are willing to help.’

Special thanks has also been reserved for the numerous volunteers who assisted in the smooth running of the pre and post-match stewarding and car parking operation at the Chester game and Stadium Safety Officer Dave Smith, posted on the Supporters Association website to publicly thank all of those involved.

All eyes are now on the next two tricky away fixtures against Mickelover and Kendal respectively before the biggest game of the season at Keys Park when The Pitmen welcome fierce local rivals Stafford Rangers on Bank Holiday Monday.

McMahon stated how much supporters of both sides will be looking forward to such a massive game so early in the season and looked forward to a special day in Hednesford’s season.

‘It’s always enjoyable to play your biggest rivals and everybody at the Club cannot wait for the meeting, we are looking for volunteers to help with stewarding and car parking again to make sure our foes from across the Chase enjoy a safe and hassle-free visit to our ground.’
