Pitmen land Walsall Wood star

Hednesford Town have bolstered their ranks with the signing of Jai Verma.

The tricky winger, 21, arrives at the Pitmen following a formal approach to his former club, Walsall Wood.

He previously made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Pitching In NPL Midlands Division side this season - a club-high tally.

Verma follows former boss Harry Harris to Keys Park. Harris took charge at the end of October following an impressive stint which saw him guide Walsall Wood to promotion from Step 5 last season before consolidating that achievement with a mid-table position before his departure was confirmed earlier in the campaign.

He also led the club to the first round proper of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history.

Harris has overseen three matches so far - two score draws, followed by a 2-0 defeat at league leaders Prescot Cables last time out.

Verma will add quality to a Hednesford side that have struggled in the early weeks of the season and currently sit bottom of the NPL West Division.

Ahead of Saturday's next league assignment away at Bootle, they have just one win and five draws to show from their opening 15 league matches.
