Players, coaches get involved with Movember

Several Evo-Stik NPL players are taking part in Movember, a charity initiative to raise money and promote men's health.

During the month of November, participants will grow moustaches and "donate their face" to the cause.

After beginning in Australia, Movember has gone truly global, with over 1.1 million participants. Last year, there were 112,000 participants in the UK alone, raising over £11million for the charity.

Donations can be made to individual participants or to "teams", with all of the proceeds going to Movember.

"Team KeMo" consists of several current and former players and staff from D1N side Radcliffe Borough, led by Griff Jones, who suffered from testicular cancer in 2009. Also in the team are Nick Clukin, Chorley's Ally Brown, Boro kitman Paul Rushton and Runcorn manager Phil Priestley.

Sheffield FC striker Conor Higginson is also taking part via a Just Giving page, and Daryll Thomas of Ilkeston FC is part of a team featuring professionals Jermaine Jenas and Tom Huddlestone.

Sutton Coldfield Town's assistant manager Neil Tooth has also signed up and hopes to encourage a few of the Royals' players to join in as well.

Former Skelmersdale United, Marine and Bamber Bridge goalkeeper Terry McCormick is also joining the fundraising - the 28-year old now plies his trade for Bala Town in the Welsh Premier League.

D1S side Leek Town are taking part in the fundraising as a squad, led by moustache captain James McCarthy and even involving some of the Blues' coaches.

Dan Toronczak of Ossett Town is growing his moustache in aid of the Cancer Support Unit in Bradford and Airedale, and has told the Evo-Stik NPL website that several more Town players are also getting involved.
