The Scholars launched the competition this week following a suggestion from fan Nigel Miller after their 2-0 win over Worcester City on Tuesday night in an Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round replay.
After booking a trip to Midland League Premier Division outfit Boldmere St Michaels in the next round, fans are being asked to vote for the best keepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards to turn out at The Scholars Ground in the decade since they took on eventual finalists Cardiff City in January 2008, in doing so becoming the lowest ranked team to reach that stage of the world's oldest cup competition.
The EVO-STIK League South club's press officer Paul Mullins said: "This is a brilliant idea from one of our fans to search for the best players to have played for Chasetown in those 10 years since we played Cardiff in January 2008.
"With 237 players in that time, they have been filtered down to anyone who has played more than 50 games. Many of our supporters have been around since that game, and many for much longer of course, and this is a great way to celebrate the anniversary so thanks to Nigel."
To earn their moment in the limelight against the Bluebirds under legendary boss Charlie Blakemore, the then British Gas Business Southern League Midland Division club recorded impressive wins over Team Bath and Port Vale after coming through the qualifying rounds. Against a Championship club 135 league places above them, they even went ahead in what was their tenth game of the run thanks to a fortuitous own goal before going out 3-1.
After their historic meeting, Cardiff City invited Chasetown to be the first official opponents at their new Cardiff City Stadium on Friday 10 July 2010 and the fans of both clubs now regularly meet up to reminisce and celebrate both occasions.
