Pontefract bring in young midfielder

Metcalfe made a club-high 36 appearances in all competitions for the Sheepicorns last season, helping them to 15th in the Pitching In NPL East Division - five points behind Colls.

He previously came through Guiseley's academy, signing first team forms with the club ahead of the 2021/22 season.

"I'm really pleased and happy to be here," Metcalfe said.

"I've really enjoyed my football in the two trial games I've played. The lads and the management team have all given me a warm welcome, so I'm just eager to get playing now, and for the season to start.

"I'm at an age now where I need to play as much football as possible.

"Personally, I am aiming to cement a place in the starting 11 week in, week out, while helping the team with good performances and hopefully scoring goals and providing assists too.

"In terms of the group, I definitely believe we need to be pushing for the play-offs and ultimately be aiming to get out of the league.

"From what I've seen so far, everyone's pushing in that direction."
