Premier Division preview: Marine back on home soil, Cheshire derby returns

By James Gordon

Marine will play the first league game on their new 3G pitch at Rossett Park on Tuesday night.

The Mariners, who marked their return to Step 3 with a dominant 3-0 victory at Guiseley, will play host to Lancaster City.

Gainsborough Trinity, the early pacesetters in the division, are also at home to Hyde United, while Stafford Rangers, fresh from an exciting 4-2 win at home to Bamber Bridge, travel to Atherton Collieries.

Marske United and South Shields, currently fourth and fifth in the division respectively, visit Bamber Bridge and Ashton United, while Warrington Town make the short trip to Bower Fold to play Stalybridge Celtic.

Meanwhile, having conceded inside 11 seconds during their season-opening 3-0 loss to Gainsborough, Warrington Rylands will hope to fare better when they visit fellow Cheshire opposition in Nantwich Town.

Matlock Town’s goalscoring crisis was somewhat halted during their 1-0 victory over Whitby Town as new striker Jerome Slew found the target, and they will look to make it back-to-back wins away at Radcliffe this time around.

FC United of Manchester and Belper Town, both beaten on opening day, will lock horns at the Raygar Stadium, while Whitby welcome Liversedge to the Yorkshire coast.

In the final game of the round, Guiseley will make the long trip north to Craik Park to face Morpeth Town, who conceded two late goals as they fell to defeat at Warrington Town last Saturday.
