By James Gordon

Matlock Town have moved to the top of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division table following their 1-0 victory at home over FC United of Manchester.

Ioan Evans headed home the winner in the last minute of the game, with Alex Byrne grabbing his 13th assist of the season so far.

The victory saw Paul Phillips’ side go top on joint points with South Shields.

The Mariners drew 0-0 away at Nantwich Town, and remain undefeated so far this season.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Warrington Town claimed a 1-0 victory at Hurst Cross against Ashton United, with Jordan Buckley scoring his seventh goal of the campaign so far.

Goals from Harvey Grice, Mason Lee, Ali Aydemir and an own goal from Nathan Woodthorpe saw Grantham Town claim a 4-1 victory away at Witton Albion.

Goals from Marcus Dackers on either side of half-time saw Stalybridge Celtic win 2-1 at home against Stafford Rangers.

Gainsborough Trinity recorded their fourth win of the season so far with a 2-0 away victory at Lancaster City, with goals from Bradley Grayson and Harry Jessop.

Mickleover thought the three points were theirs when Lee Holmes scored in the 87th minute against Scarborough Athletic, only for the hosts to equalise through Nathan Cartman in the 90th minute at the Flamingo Land Stadium for a share of the spoils.
