Premier Division round-up: Leaders held at home as trio run riot

Meanwhile, Hyde United made it five wins in a row with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Guiseley.

Eddie Brown opened the scoring after just five minutes before Jordan Fagbola scored at either end - netting an own-goal early in the second half before restoring the Tigers' lead nine minutes later.

Matlock Town bounced back from Tuesday’s defeat to Guiseley with a slender 1-0 triumph at home to Lancaster City.

Alex Wiles netted for the second successive match, converting from close range after the Dolly Blues failed to clear inside their own penalty area.

Elsewhere, Warrington Rylands turned on the style with an emphatic 5-2 win away at Liversedge.

Kane Drummond grabbed a double, while Callum Dolan moved to the top of the division’s goalscoring charts with a hat-trick on the road.

Gainsborough Trinity impressed on Saturday afternoon as Clayton Donaldson’s hat-trick helped them to a 4-0 win at home to Stalybridge Celtic.

Jack Dyche also found himself on the scoresheet as Trinity climbed to ninth in the league table.

At Cantilever Park, FC United of Manchester beat Warrington Town 1-0 to inflict a second league defeat of the season upon the Yellows.

Will Russ scored the only goal of the afternoon, while the Reds were indebted to on-loan goalkeeper Wyll Stanway for making a number of crucial saves on debut.

Meanwhile, Bamber Bridge put on a show at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, coming from behind to beat Belper Town 5-1.

The Brig had trailed after Brodie Litchfield’s opener on the half-hour mark, before goals from Kade Ratchford, Paul Dawson, Harry Scarborough (2) and Fin Sinclair-Smith turned the game around.

And in the final fixture of the round, Whitby Town picked up their first league win of the season away at Nantwich Town.

The Seasiders ran out 2-0 winners after goals in either half from Malik Dijksteel and Michael Spellman.
