Prize is icing on the cake for winner!

At least one Lincoln United fan had his or her cake and ate it on the opening day of the new EVO-STIK Northern Premier League season!

To celebrate Saturday's first match of the 2016-17 campaign with Leek Town at Ashby Avenue, volunteers at the EVO-STIK NPL First Division South's Whites spent the hours before kicking off in the 1-1 draw baking a special cake to mark the occasion.

Officials at Ashby Avenue aren't planning to enter the great British Bake Off but are proud of their efforts in the kitchen and hope it went down a treat with the sweet-toothed winner of their first matchday raffle of the new season.

A club spokesman said: "I wonder if anyone else had a tasty raffle prize like this on the first day of the season? I doubt it!"
