Promising forward departs Gainsborough

Gainsborough Trinity have confirmed that striker Jack Gibson has left the club by mutual consent.

The 6’1 forward, who came through the youth ranks at Chester, joined Trinity from Carlton Town last summer.

However, his chances in the team were limited and it has now been agreed that he will leave the club in search of more regular gametime.

A club statement read: “Following discussions between Jack and the management team, it was agreed by all parties that Jack needs to be playing regular first team football in order to progress his career.

“Unfortunately, at this time, the club are unable to give Jack that guarantee, so it has been mutually agreed to cancel his contract.

“Jack leaves the club with everybody’s thanks and best wishes for the future.”

Taking to social media, the former Holy Blues striker thanked the club, adding that he “will always remember that it was the Holy Blues who gave me my first chance”.

The club kick off their 2022/23 Pitching In NPL Premier Division campaign away at Warrington Rylands on Saturday 13 August.
