Promotion the goal for Tymon

New Marske United signing Matthew Tymon says the ambition of promotion is what attracted him to join the club from Whitby Town.

Tymon, 30, made the move following four years with the Seasiders, scoring 11 goals in 30 appearances last season.

He told the Marske official club website: “The ambition of promotion is what attracted me to Marske. The feeling I got from Carl when I spoke to him was that he wasn’t going to settle for less than promotion this year which got me excited about joining.

“Promotion is my goal, this was the reason of joining. I’m looking to be a part of a team with an expectation of winning which has been lacking for the last couple of years for me and with the current squad I see no reason why that can’t be achieved this year as I believe the squad would be strong enough for the playoffs in the division above.”

The former Hartlepool United trainee also revealed that his best achievement in football was being named in the top 100 players of the first 50 years of the Northern Premier League.
