Radcliffe appoint Karl Marginson to new role

Radcliffe have appointed former FC United manager and Head of Football Karl Marginson as the club’s new Head of Football Operations.

Marginson, 48, is no stranger to the club having made 58 appearances as a player between 2003 and 2005, and he joins the club in the newly-created off-field role.

Radcliffe chairman, Paul Hilton said: ”The Club are constantly striving to improve all areas of the organisation and bringing consistency, organisation, sustainability and growth to the football operation which is a must if the Club is continue progressing and capitalise on our great start to the season.

“The role will have a wide remit across the Club, tasked with putting in place strategies and processes that ensure that the Club continues to progress and prepare for the future, add a further layer of support for our valued employees and volunteers and build manageable goals to realise the vision of the Board; to build a Club that is successful and progressive on the field, developing young players and opportunity with the community of Radcliffe at its heart.

“In appointing Karl we have secured one of the few men in football who have traversed the path we wish to follow. Karl brings a wealth of expertise in the operational development of football at this level and in this role he can help support and develop all operational areas of the Club.

“The best time to improve is when you are doing well - and following our strategic review this is precisely what the Club is doing. This is an exciting appointment for our Club.

“Karl's expertise will be a huge asset to Radcliffe Football Club as we look to the future to grow into a consistent, sustainable and successful football club. Karl shares the vision of the Board and has the expertise to help us deliver it.

“His experience in being involved with FC United from its inception has provided him with expertise difficult to find anywhere else, and to have him bring that to Radcliffe is priceless.

Karl has an extensive experience of non-league football as a player and manager. He was the first manager of FC United of Manchester and guided them from the North West Counties to the National League North with four promotions.
