Radcliffe rocked by stalwart's death

Radcliffe's fans, players and officials have been rocked by the death of the EVO-STIK League club's popular secretary Ric Fielding.

Officials at the EVO-STIK League North club's Stainton Park released a statement at lunchtime on Wednesday paying tribute to the stalwart after learning of his sudden passing.

A well-known character throughout the Northern Premier League who'd made many friends throughout Non-League as a lifelong fan and administrator, the club's late secretary had been ill for some time.

The statement read: “It is with sadness and great regret to announce the passing of club Secretary Ric Fielding. Ric was a huge part of this football club and a genuinely irreplaceable member of our football family. A brilliant and witty character, Ric embodied everything great about non-league football, involved throughout the club in so many roles for the pure love of the game and the benefit of others."

The club added: "He will be sorely missed by everyone associated with the club past and present. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.”
