Rallying cry for Pitmen

Hednesford Town update, by Chris Brewerton.

The Chairman of the Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association has issued a rally cry from all Pitmen followers as Keys Park prepares to welcome Conference North side Corby Town on Saturday in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

Scott Smith, speaking at last night’s monthly Association meeting, called upon the Pitmen faithful to attend tomorrow’s game with a positive attitude as Rob Smith’s men are, despite their outstanding home form, still underdogs against a Corby side who currently sit seventh in the league above.

‘I’m sure all of our supporters will be right behind the lads on Saturday afternoon in a game which really could shape our season. There is a real buzz around the ground at the moment due to our home form and, with the encouragement of our supporters, I’m sure we can cause an upset.’

Hednesford beat Carlton Town in a sweltering second round qualifier two weeks ago to reach this stage for the first time since 2007 and have a had a week’s rest following a disastrous trip to Marine on Tuesday night when the team coach was unable to make the game due to major traffic problems on the M6.

Smith stated that this forced break had wetted the appetite of the supporters who made the doomed trip towards Liverpool and knows that The Pitmen can always count on a good crowd when FA Cup fever builds.

‘I know the fans who made the trip to Marine cannot wait for Saturday’s match and Rob Smith, Larry Chambers and the entire squad can be safe in the knowledge that we will all be right behind them during the match.’

Admission for the game has been set at £10 Adults £6 Concessions and £3 Under 16’s in the Main Stand and £9 Adults £5 Concessions £3 Under 16’s in the terraced areas of Keys Park.
