Ramsbottom fly the flag in the FA Trophy

All eyes will be on the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium on Saturday as Ramsbottom United create their own piece of history.

The Rams have successfully negotiated eight matches to progress to the second round proper of the prestigious FA Trophy.

This is the furthest the club have ever ventured in the competition, and are now in the last 32 of a competition that encompasses the top four levels of English non-league football, that’s 228 teams, with the lure of a Wembley final coming ever closer.

Rammy are now the sole representatives of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

The visitors to the HWRS on Saturday are Southern League Premier South Division side Weymouth, whose visit to east Lancashire will require a round trip of 550 miles – the furthest side the Rams have played in their 53 year history.

Weymouth are riding high in their division, and looking to regain a place in the National League South, having previously played at that level, as well as gracing non-league’s top division in the recent past.

The Terra have lost just three league games all season, whilst the Rams have tasted just two defeats in their last twenty one games.

It promises to be a mouth-watering clash, so fans are asked to turn up early for what should be a highly entertaining game.

Entry is £8 for adults, £4 concessions and £1 for 12+under with an adult
