The 28-year-old re-signed for the EVO-STIK League Premier Division's Ravens on Friday, pictured, after more than a year out of the game with a serious knee injury. Local hero Carney spent four successful years at Owen Street before departing for neighbours Barwell in 2016 to play in the EVO-STIK League's top flight.
In a statement on Friday announcing his return, club officials said manager Tommy Brookbanks will limit the hot-shot's comeback to substitute appearances to aid his recovery and protect the progress he's made.
A Ravens spokesman said: "The club and Ant himself are keen to stress that from now until the end of the season he will complete his comeback from the injury and be an impact substitute with next season very much the plan for a starting spot."
Coalville Town boss Tommy Brookbanks
"He described the move back as ‘the right choice' due to his relationship with the fans and chairman. It was a no-brainer after a discussion with manager Tommy Brookbanks that Coalville was the place he wanted to come too. All being well, Ant will be in the squad to face Stafford Rangers next Tuesday."
