The grateful Blues say the 19-year-old stopper was lining up to take a goal kick when he went down clutching his chest during his side's Staffordshire County Senior League clash at the Oldfields Sports Ground.
A doctor watching Saturday's fixture treated the distressed youngster until he was rushed to hospital by ambulance. The Newcastle-based keeper was subsequently diagnosed with sudden inflammation of the muscles between the ribs which caused pressure on his lungs and resulted in his breathing difficulties.
Relieved officials say Porter-Hargreaves was detained overnight for observation after the scare and released on Sunday morning.
