The former Rochdale and Barnsley star, who cut his managerial teeth at the Vikings between September 2009 and May 2012 before spending a total of five years at the Blues, was unveiled as the club's new manager on Wednesday night.
James Dudgeon and Lee Stratford, who both worked with Rose at both Goole and Frickley, are also back at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds as his assistants after the Vikings moved to replace Derry Robson and David Taylor following their second from bottom finish to the EVO-STIK League North campaign in April.
The Vikings - still celebrating an FA reprieve from relegation - welcomed Rose and his team back in a statement on Thursday confirming the appointments.
A spokesman said: "The club is delighted to announce the appointment of Karl Rose as first team manager. Karl will be assisted by James Dudgeon and Lee Stratford and all make a welcome return to the Victoria Pleasure Grounds after five seasons away at Frickley Athletic.
"The change in management at this point is due to our reprieve from relegation which was ratified at the league's AGM in Blackpool on Saturday. The board felt the change was needed to help the club make the best of that reprieve and our need to recruit more experience into the team."
The club added: "We place on record our sincere thanks to Derry Robson, David Taylor and Steve Jeff for their fantastic efforts in our battle against relegation last term and hope all decide to remain at the club for the challenge ahead."
Rose, who left Westfield Lane in May following their relegation from the top flight, managed Goole AFC for nearly three seasons, guiding them to 13th and 10th place finishes in his two full seasons in charge.
As a player, the 38-year-old kicked off his career at Barnsley where he had five seasons from 1995 to 2000 before joining Rochdale. Following injury, he later went on to play for Scarborough, Leigh RMI, Tamworth, Worksop Town and Goole AFC before stepping up to first manage the club as caretaker.
His appointment follows the arrival of Rich Nichols as the club's new chief executive. The former head of commercial and marketing at Chesterfield and member of the commercial team at Scunthorpe United, Nichols was installed earlier in June.
