Saturday's First Division North action review

The Moors have a superior goal difference but it should be all over well before the two meet on the final day of the season in the North East.

A 55th minute Ciaran Kilheeney goal was all that separated the Wire and play-off chasing Glossop in front of a crowd of 491 in north Derbyshire.

Spennymoor also won 1-0 at home against Bamber Bridge, courtesy of a 33rd minute Mark Anderson effort in front of a crowd of 536.

Glossop and Northwich Victoria are virtually assured of a top five finish – Vics winning 2-1 at Brighouse Town with a brace from Richard Bennett in the opening half-hour and Ben Atkinson replying three minutes from time.

The other top five spot is between current occupant Burscough and Clitheroe, who trail by four points after losing 2-0 at Throstle Nest to Farsley Celtic, for whom Aiden Savory after 21 minutes and Lewis Nightingale 16 minutes from time were on the mark.

The Linnets look favourites as they edged out Mossley AFC at Victoria Park and have a game in hand on the Blues.

Tom Pratt gave the Lilywhites a 25th minute lead that Paul Williams and Karl Noon overtook with two goals in three minutes just before the break.

An Andy Keogh own goal extended the Linnets lead two minutes after the restart and he scored at the right end a minute later but the hosts held out for three crucial points.

At the opposite end of the table, Harrogate Railway Athletic are just about still alive after beating already doomed and still win-less New Mills 4-1 at Station View with goals from Chris Ovington with two, Harry Coates and Stephen Bromley – Michael Jones having given the Millers a 12th minute lead.

Ossett Town maintained a five-point lead over Harrogate after a 3-1 success at Valerie Park against Prescot Cables with Anthony Mackie after 27 minutes, Simon Rogers after 52 minutes and David Brown six minutes from time being enough, with Ollie Grundy netting a late consolation for Cables.

Elsewhere, Kendal Town won 3-1 at Dimple Wells against Ossett Albion, scoring twice inside the opening 10 minutes through Sam Bailey from the spot and Dan Forbes and then, after Rikki Paylor had reduced the deficit on 68 minutes, adding a third from Alex Newby four minutes from the end.

Radcliffe Borough lost 3-1 at Stainton Park to Droylsden, for whom Matty Burke, Danny Parkinson and Brandon Zibaka outgunned a Sam McMahon spot-kick.

Witton Albion beat Trafford 2-0 at Wincham Park with Danny Andrews in first half stoppage time and Rob Hopley on the hour-mark on target.

Lancaster City and Scarborough Athletic shared a 1-1 Giant Axe draw in which Neil Marshall`s 16th minute opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Dean Lisles on the hour-mark.
