Turner, 28, a product of the Leeds United academy, and had been ever-present for the Gladiators so far this season.
He has previously spent time with Harrogate Town and Farsley Celtic.
"I'm over the moon to get Lewis through the door," said boss Darren Kelly.
"He's a player I have admired for a long time, we actually discussed him coming in a while back but things never materialised.
"Lewis has a great pedigree coming through at Leeds United, playing for the likes of Harrogate and Chester too and more recently at Matlock, and I know he will add strength to the squad.
"It's important that we have a lot of players who are versatile and can play in several positions as we do need to switch the system every now and then, or especially when we have a lot of injuries like we do at the moment.
"We're lucky to already have Josh Barrett on the right, who is able to push higher up the pitch if needed, so adding Lewis in gives us more options that's for sure."
