Seadogs claim first home win of season

Scarborough Athletic claimed a 1-0 victory over Hyde United in their first home win of the season.

Chris Dawson scored the only goal of the fixture at Flamingo Land Stadium just four minutes in, and it was enough for the hosts to claim the three league points.

Despite the victory, manager John Deacey expressed his frustration.

"We’re making our own problems, he told Scarborough Athletic FC Media.

"We’re dominating games and we’re going through chance after chance and not putting games to bed, which we’ve got to do because it just keeps biting us week in week out.

"We’ve got to learn from it.

“Seeing out games at the end correctly and being professional. Crossing the ball into the box in the 94th minute so the keeper can just pluck it out and start an attack for them. We’ve got to start growing up if we want to climb this league."

On the goalscorer, he continued: "A great performance from Chris Dawson again and a great strike.

"I think the same as Pete Davidson as well, he’s done well. We’ve got to keep grinding the results and playing the football that we’re trying to play and I think it’s pleasing and pleasing on the eye as well so hopefully the crowd enjoy it."
