S/East Preview: Pressure on Carlton

Just two points separate the top six sides, with pressure on table toppers Carlton Town.

Carlton host Loughborough Dynamo, who sit 11th in the table. Carlton are unbeaten in their last eight league fixtures, and maintain an unbeaten away record in the South East Division. Most recently, Niall Davey scored an equaliser which saw them draw 1-1 with Cleethorpes.

Ilkeston Town this week appointed Martin Carruthers as their new manager, having previously managed Basford United through five promotions and joined Quorn AFC in May 2019. He will see his new side travel to Kidsgrove Athletic, who recently parted ways with player Lewis Bergin.

In second place, Stamford host Newcastle Town who sit at the bottom of the table, however they recently defeated Premier Division side Witton Albion 1-0 in the Integro League Cup, with Harvey Howell bagging the only goal of the game.

With the worst points difference in the league, Market Drayton Town host Stocksbridge Park Steels, who sit seventh in the league and recently defeated Ilkeston 5-2 with four goals from Scott Ruthven and one more by Joshua Nodder.

It’s fourth against fifth when Leek Town travel to Belper Town, with both sides keeping the pressure on top spot Carlton.

Lincoln United have two draws in their last three fixtures, against both Chasetown and Ilkeston Town, and they host Frickley Athletic who are two places above them in the tab;e on 10th.

Sutton Coldfield Town, who have played the least amount of league games so far alongside Kidsgrove and Belper Town, host Wisbech in 19th spot, whilst Cleethorpes travel to Worksop.

Finally, eighth-placed Sheffield are unbeaten in their last three league fixtures and they host Chasetown.
