S/East round-up: Belper Town continue at top spot

Belper Town remain at the top of the Pitching In Northern Premier League S/East Division following their 2-2 draw at home to Worksop Town.

Piteu Cruz opened the scoring on the 11th minute, before Luke Hinsley equalised. Craig Nelthorpe regained the lead for the hosts through a penalty, but a Nathan Curtis own-goal cancelled the goal out as the sides both came away with a point.

Worksop Town now sit fourth in the league table.

There were a total of 44 goals across the N/West Division.

In second spot, Newcastle Town claimed an impressive 6-1 victory over Carlton Town. Two penalties inside the first 30-minutes converted by Joseph Berks and Ryan McLean saw Newcastle go into half-time with a 2-1 lead, with Daryll Thomas scoring for the visitors.

However, second-half goals from Berks, Maxwell Chimenes, Nathan Morley and Ethan Vale saw the hosts continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Stamford scored five goals for the second time in a week, securing the three points with a 5-1 victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels. Tom Siddons scored his second brace of the week, while teammates Cosmos Matwasa, Harry Limb and James Hicks also scored.

Lincoln United secured the biggest win of the weekend, with a 6-0 victory away to Sutton Coldfield Town. Goals from Jack McMenemy (2), Callum Foster, Jake Park, Matthew Cotton and Callum Chapman.

Tim Grice scored his fourth goal of the campaign late on to secure a 3-2 victory for Leek Town, who now sit fifth in the league table. Robert Stevenson and William Saxon also scoring.

It was a goalless draw between Glossop North End and Kidsgrove Athletic, while a Curtis Burrows brace both from the penalty spot saw Loughborough Dynamo secure a 2-1 win over Sheffield.

Braces from both Jonathon Margetts and Tyler Williams saw Frickley Athletic defeat Wisbech Town 4-0, who sit bottom of the table.

Ilkeston Town secured the three points with a 5-1 victory over Market Drayton Town.

Spalding were beaten 3-1 at home to Chasetown on Saturday, and the club have recently announced that manager Lewis Thorogood has resigned from his role with the club.

Spalding sit 12th in the league table.
