S/East round-up: Four for Tim Grice at Leek Town

By James Gordon

Tim Grice scored four in an impressive victory as Leek Town remain top of the BetVictor S/East table.

The Blues have scored 11 goals in their last three league fixtures - Grice scoring five - and claimed a 4-0 victory over Sheffield, with a two-point advantage over second-place Stamford.

Stamford became the first side in the Northern Premier League to reach the 50-goal mark this season, as they also claimed a 4-0 win over Wisbech Town, who fall to the foot of the table. Robert Morgan, Thomas Siddons, Deaglan O’Hare and Sean Wright scoring for the side.

Market Drayton Town moved from the bottom thanks to a 3-2 victory over Newcastle Town, goals from Lucas-Green Birch, Ethan Stanton and an injury-time winner from Joseph Thomas.

Following their outstanding 9-2 victory, Cleethorpes Town sit third as they drew 2-2 with Sutton Coldfield Town, while Frickley Athletic moved into a play-off spot with a 3-0 win over Worksop.

There were three 1-0 victories, with Kidsgrove Athletic, Lincoln United and Loughborough Dynamo all on the right side of the result against Carlton Town, Spalding United and Chasetown respectively.

Belper Town were held to a 1-1 draw with Ilkeston, as the game’s only lead lasted just four minutes, with Fabian Smith equalising after Alex Peterson opened the scoring.

Elsewhere, Glossop North End claimed a 2-1 victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels.
