September Fair Play Winners

The Fair Play awards for September have gone to CHESTER FC, LANCASTER CITY and LEEK TOWN respectively.

Chester added the Fair Play prize to Neil Young’s “Manager of the Month” award with five cautions and no dismissals in the month and the recently reformed club sit in fourth place in the overall season to date tables. Leading the Premier Division table are Ashton United who last season were called before the FA to explain their poor disciplinary record. Chairman Dave Aspinall and his board have tackled the issue enthusiastically and certainly turned things round. Sandwiched between Ashton and Chester are FC United of Manchester and Matlock Town.

Lancaster City made it two monthly awards out of two in the First Division North for, having won the August prize, they again took September’s offering with the perfect record of no cautions at all and not surprisingly the current holder’s of the FA’s National Fair Play award lead the overall season to date tables. However they have a stiff challenge from Woodley Sports who themselves have a very impressive record of only three cautions to date this season which would see them lead either of the other two Divisions. Three other clubs Trafford, Wakefield and Ossett Albion also average one Fair Play disciplinary point per game or less this season.

In the First Division South Leek Town and Carlton Town could be barely separated as both had just one caution in September in the four Evo-Stik games played. The Technical Area behaviour marks then used to determine the winner failed to do so with both management teams marked “Excellent” twice and “Good” twice. The prize therefore went to the club with the better overall season to date record which was Leek who had also won the August prize and have accumulated just five cautions in ten games. In addition to Leek, Brigg Town are averaging less than one disciplinary point per game and lie in second place overall.

Chester FC will receive their award of a 1.5 litre bottle of Famous Grouse Whiskey prior to the home fixture versus Chasetown on Saturday 8th October. On the same day Leek Town will receive their award prior to the home fixture versus Ilkeston FC. Lancaster City will receive their 1.5 litre of Famous Grouse Whiskey prior to the home game versus Durham City on Tuesday 11th October.
