Shaw signs Marine deal

Defender commits until end of next season

John Shaw has signed a contract at Marine which secures him to the Crosby-based club until the end of next season.

Shaw, 25, has played in 114 games for Marine as a non-contract player since joining them in the summer of 2009. He is a versatile defender who can play as a central defender or as a left back. Following recent talks between the player and Marine manager Kevin Lynch a contract was signed by the player and Club officials last night at the Arriva Stadium.

Marine Manager Kevin Lynch said, “This shows to everyone how we are continuing to build the right squad here at Marine. I am delighted to have John with us; he has been one of our consistent performers and has got better and stronger year on year. Not only is John a fantastic player but a great person to have around the club; he leads by example and this shows our intent in the sort of player I want at this football club. This will hopefully now lead to others following suit and committing themselves to Marine at least for another season which will enable us to continue to improve”

Marine Chairman Paul Leary added, “John’s consistency and levels of performance through out this season have been excellent. He works very hard, shows good discipline and attitude both on and off the pitch and deserves this contract. John is a key player to help us achieve our ambitions and I am very pleased that he has decided to commit his immediate future to Marine.”
