And it wasn't just the Scholars praising the volunteers from their chairman down who spent four hours moving a mountain of snow at The Scholars Ground as fans from across Non-League took to Twitter to hail their efforts after snow and ice all but wiped out Saturday's Non-League programme in much of the Midlands and North West.
Leading the tributes before kicking off in what turned out to be a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Daniels, @ChasetownFC1954 tweeted: "The best thing about non-league football: you have everyone from the chairman, the ref & linesmen, opposition staff & all the supporters working hard for over 4hrs to get this game on. THANK YOU! #bluearmy #chaseaywe."
Before the reverse could dampen his spirits, Blues supporter Matthew Scandrett even "raised a flask" to his fellow fans. Alongside pictures of their work, he tweeted: "Raise a flask to the only non league game in the West Midlands! Congratulations @ChasetownFC1954 for getting the games vs @StamfordAFC1896 on, come on you Scholars!"
