Spartans boost sponsor's donation to charity

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Blyth Spartans have helped their main sponsors make a major donation to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Sponsors Quantum Elite have donated £1,300 to the charity of the late footballing knight after a season of fundraising with the support of the fans, players and officials at Croft Park.

Most recently, Spartans helped by auctioning off training shirts brandishing the logo of the charity and that of the North Tyneside based law firm. Other events have included raffles and a number of staff from Quantum Elite and the Premier Division club taking the 'ice bucket challenge'.

The charity's Liz Luff, pictured collecting a cheque from Quantum Elite's Brian and Lissa Delf, hailed the generosity shown by Quantum Elite, Spartans and their supporters.

She said: “The support from Blyth Spartans and its sponsors, Quantum Elite, has been incredible this year. The club’s Sir Bobby Robson Foundation training shirts have been worn by the players during a very memorable season and we’ve been proud to see our name alongside the Spartans badge.

“Our thanks to everyone involved in raising money for the charity over the last year and especially the fans who generously bid for the player’s shirts at the end of the season. The £1,300 raised will help us continue the work Sir Bobby began when he launched his charity and will directly benefit cancer patients in the North East and Cumbria.”

Quantum Elite's Delf also extended his thanks to Spartans manager Tom Wade, pictured left without the moustache he grew last 'Movember' to raise funds for the charity during the club's historic run to the third round of the FA Cup.

Delf added: "Quantum Elite would like to thank the Blyth Spartans Board, Management, Players and members of the Blyth Green Army for their support in helping to raise £1,300 for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation."
