Stadium rights deal is historic first

By David Watters

Trafford are celebrating two major commercial boosts after selling the naming rights to their home for the first time in the EVO-STIK League club's history and renewing their main sponsorship deal.

After playing at Shawe View for the last 28 years, the EVO-STIK League North club's ground has been renamed the First Point, Shawe View Stadium, for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

The historic move comes after Rob Woolley, the chairman of the club's junior section, stepped in to sponsor the stadium through his company, 24 hour recovery and roadside assistance specialists First Points Commercials.

Trafford boss Tom Baker is also looking forward to seeing his playing budget topped up after last season's main sponsor Simon Breen renewed his partnership with the club for a second consecutive season through his finance and payroll services and business health checks company.

The deal does involve a change of branding on the club's kit though after his company's name changed from Total Outsourcing to SBFD. Baker is pictured looking on while Breen shakes on the deal for the new campaign with Trafford chairman John Eadie.

Baker and his Trafford side continue their preparations for the big kick off in August on Tuesday night when they host Curzon Ashton at their newly renamed home in a 7.45pm kick-off.
