More than 1,500 fans at The War Memorial Ground helped raise a staggering £14,643.08 for the Mary Stevens Hospice after turning out to see a Stourbridge Old Boys XI battle to a 1-1 draw with a West Bromwich Albion Select XI.
The match was played in memory of Jane Webb, mother of the event's organiser Matt Webb, who led out the sides which included the likes of Bob Taylor, Darren Moore, Paul Peschisolido and Dele Adebola in the Baggies line-up.
In a letter of thanks from the hospice for organising the family themed fundraiser with a bouncy castle and face painting for younger fans, the Glassboys' proud officials were told to get their suits ready for a trip to the Hawthorns before the end of the season for one of West Brom's two final Premier League home games to present their cheque on the pitch.
