Steelmen sack rookie boss Bell

EVO-STIK League Corby Town expect to appoint a new manager within days after David Bell left the Steelmen on Friday.

Bell, along with his management team of number two Rob Gould and coach Kev Ward, departed Steel Park after the EVO-STIK League North club's former assistant manager was relieved of his duties following the club's poor start to the season.

The fourth-from-bottom Steelmen confirmed the appointment of Steve Kinniburgh as caretaker manager for the visit of Stocksbridge Park Steel on Saturday in a short statement on the club's website.

The club said: "Steve Kinniburgh will take charge of the team tomorrow against Stocksbridge Park Steels and we will be making a further announcement in due course. The club would like to thank Belly for his hard work since joining the club and wish him the best in his future career."

Former Coventry City and Norwich City midfielder Bell, 33, stepped up as the successor to Gary Mills in May after arriving as assistant manager during the latter half of the 2016-17 campaign.
