Testing times ahead for Avenue

Bradford Park Avenue update, by Lewis Sale

Bradford (Park Avenue) face a testing time in their season, playing three games in the next five days.

The West Yorkshire based outfit travel to Nantwich Town's Weaver Stadium, to face high flying Northwich Victoria on Saturday. On the following Monday evening, Avenue host Whitby Town at the Horsfall Stadium, and then go on the road to face North Ferriby United on Wednesday night, in the re-arranged Doodson Sport Cup fixture.

Due to the weather, Avenue have failed to play a league game since the 28th January, when Bradford defeated Worksop Town; 2-0. However, chairman Dr John Dean believes the recent run of fixtures are crucial; 'With such a demanding fixture list ahead of us, every game is vital. We travel to face Northwich Victoria, who have been excellent this year and remain in the playoffs, and it is a big game in the context of the season.'

Furthermore, Bradford sit outside the playoffs, with two games in hand over fifth placed Marine, and trail by three points. The Avenue chairman has overseen his side produce some fantastic, flowing football and is 'happy' with the strong position they find themselves in. With only one notable injury absentee; Amjad Iqbal, who is recovering from a broken leg, Avenue pose a threat to the teams above them.
