Thursday's North Division action review

Colne's 3-1 win at Lancashire rivals Clitheroe and Colwyn Bay and Trafford`s -1 draw in North Wales leaves the door ajar for sixth place.

Trafford hold pole position as they possess a one-point lead and hold sixth spot. Jack Dorney gave them a 19th minute lead in front of 319 at Llanelian Road but Bay equalised through Jack Hindle right on half-time. Bay are the outsiders as they are two points behind Trafford but have the best goal difference of the trio, and now trail Colne by a point after their win at Shawbridge.

Alex Curran gave the visitors a great start with a goal inside two minutes. Jon Hodgkinson added a second on 25 minutes and it looked done and dusted when Matt Morgan made it 3-0 within six minutes of the second half getting underway. But Kurt Willoughby made it interesting when he reduced the deficit two minutes later although Colne held firm to make it a nervy final day for the trio.

Champions South Shields romped to another comfortable win at Mariners Park in front of 1,167 against Kendal Town.

Shields made it a century of points and 110 goals, thanks to Lee Mason after seven minutes, Graeme Armstrong three minutes later, Carl Finnigan on 26 minutes, a Paul Dawson own goal five minutes before the beak and a second for Armstrong 10 minutes from time.

Atherton Collieries made it six games unbeaten with a 3-2 win at The Kensite Stadium against Ramsbottom United.

Goals either side of half-time from Jonathan Hurst put Collieries in control, only for Sam Madeley to respond on 49 minutes. Madeley then pulled Rammy level with five minutes to go but Gareth Peet won it for the hosts less than a minute later.
