Trophy hunters net new sponsor

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Nantwich Town celebrated the end of their record-breaking season by welcoming a new sponsor on board.

Before bringing down the curtain on a campaign that saw them go all the way to the FA Trophy semi-finals in March and secure an eight-placed finish, their highest in ten years, the Dabbers signed up Nantwich-based Barringtons Chartered Accountants as their latest sponsor and commercial partner.

The firm, which has a head office in Newcastle and is a long-standing member of the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce after five years in the town, handles the accounts of businesses and organisations of all sizes as well as the Premier Division club, its team of more than 40 specialists in tax, VAT, payroll and wealth management also looking after the books of the Dabbers shop and busy function suite.

Andrew Wilshaw, a director at Barringtons, said: “We love being part of this lovely town and its thriving business community. The football club adds to the feel-good-factor and we are delighted to be on-board as a sponsor in what has been a very memorable season.

“The FA Trophy was a David and Goliath clash placing Nantwich just one game away from Wembley. Although they didn’t make the final, it was a huge achievement to get so far in a major tournament.”

Nantwich Town chairman Tony Davidson said: “The FA Trophy battle has generated a lot of interest in the club and pushed up attendances. It’s great to end the year on a high and welcome Barringtons as a sponsor.”

* Nantwich Town have sent their condolences to the friends and family of former youth team star Kieran Barker who passed away earlier this week. In a statement on their website on Friday, the Dabbers said they saddened to hear of the passing of the 20-year-old who played in goal for their youth team and went on to have trials at Manchester United in 2009.

A spokesman said: "Everyone at the club would like to send their condolences to Kieran’s family and friends at this difficult time."
