TV draw hands Ammies plum tie

By David Watters

Salford City can look forward to even more publicity for the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after drawing Notts County in Monday night's televised live draw.

The Ammies - already looking forward to the start of 'Class Of 92: Out Of Their League' on the BBC on Thursday night, the documentary on their takeover last year by the Manchester United stars - pulled the League Two club when the draw for the FA Cup's First Round proper was made on BBC 2 at Thackley Juniors in Bradford by former Scotland international and Bradford City manager Stuart McCall.

After collecting £12,500 for their 1-0 win over Southport on Saturday thanks to James Poole's late winner from the half-way line, the Ammies will bank another £18,000 if joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley can mastermind another win.

Poole and City's Danny Webber were both at the draw which was hosted by Mark Chapman and televised for the second year running after the BBC recaptured the rights to broadcast the competition last season for the first time since 2008.

The game could yet be televised and Webber told viewers: "I'm delighted and everybody will be. It was important we got a Football League club so everybody will be happy for sure. It's a one off occasion and everybody will be up for it, that's for sure!"

Eighty clubs went into the draw with 32 teams from Non-League looking to be paired with 48 League One and League Two opponents over the weekend of Saturday November 7.

Gary Hackett's Stourbridge, 3-0 winners over Kidderminster Harries in the final qualifying round, will travel to Dover Athletic while Barwell and manager Jim Ginnelly will host the Ryman League's Grays Athletic or National League outfit Welling United if they can overcome AFC Rushden & Diamonds in their replay after being held to a 2-2 draw.

Jim Gannon's Northwich Victoria, who kicked off the weekend's FA Cup action when they held Chorley to a 0-0 draw on Friday night, will host National League Boreham Wood.
