Twins launch their own Olympic bid!

Footballing twins Charlie and Danny Taylor are hoping that turning out for Loughborough Dynamo in the EVO-STIK League will turn them into Olympians!

Signed earlier in August by Dynamo boss Peter Ward for his side's EVO-STIK League South campaign, the 20-year-old brothers have set their sights on becoming full fledged internationals to help Panama U23s qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan.

Born and raised in England, the 20-year-olds have a Panamanian mother and grandmother and have just returned from their summer holidays in the Central American republic where they were training with the national team, currently FIFA ranked at 61 and one place ahead of 2018 World Cup hosts Russia.

The siblings have been on the path to achieving their dreams before arriving at the Nanpantan Sports Ground. In March, keeper Charlie earned his first five international caps for Panama in the CONCACAF Regional U20 World Cup qualifiers in Costa Rica. After keeping a clean sheet on his debut in a 1-0 win over the USA, the winners of the qualifying tournament before England lifted the trophy at the finals in South Korea in July, he was named 'Man of the Match'.

Entering his final year at Loughborough University studying Spanish and Sports Management, Charlie has already shown the confidence of keeper, telling fans: “My three best qualities are decision making, determination and distribution.”

Despite being a holding midfielder, Danny, who is studying Geography and Sports Science and also plays for Loughborough University Scholars, wants to see his name on the scoresheet whenever he gets the chance this season. “I enjoy defending, tackling and protecting the back four but when I have an opening I like to test the keeper,” he declared on Monday.

Dynamo says the brothers will be given every chance to shine, a spokesman adding: "The Taylor twins know they will have to compete for positions on Dynamo but want the maximum amount of playing time in order to prepare themselves for the Panama Under 23 Olympic Team which hopes to qualify for Japan in 2020."
