Two new club partnerships for Marine

By James Gordon

Marine have announced two partnerships with Crosby Stuart JFC and Elite Sports Academy.

The new partnership with Crosby Stuart will see them become the youth setup of Marine Football Club, with Crosby Stuart becoming a feeder club into the Marine FC playing structure.

The two clubs will become closely integrated with Crosby Stuart and Marine working together on different community opportunities and projects.

All Crosby Stuart players will receive free entry to all home league games in addition to being able to use the Marine Travel Arena for games and events during the year.

Marine Chief Executive, James Leary, said: “Crosby Stuart has a fantastic set-up from the under 5-16 age range and is the biggest junior football club locally. Many great footballers have passed through their ranks over the years and they continue to produce players of real quality. We are the biggest adult club locally and we are without a youth structure below under-18. As a result this is a move that makes so much sense for both sides.

“Since I took over the role I wanted to build the football club structure and this is the first major step in helping to achieve that. I look forward to working with Frankie Meadows, Gary Sorrell and the team over the coming years.

“I also look forward to supporting the development of players coming through the youth system as this provides a pathway for those who have ambitions to play at semi-pro level or above.”

Meanwhile, Marine will launch their first ever 16-18 girls team in partnership with Elite Sports Academy.

All Under 16 Girls teams and individual players are invited to enter a tournament at Marine FC on 28th March 2019.

Elite Sports Academy will also, as a key part of the agreement, deliver a study and education programme that includes an Extended Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity combined with a range of other level 2 and 3 qualifications.

This will be a personal experience and could be a stepping stone for girls looking for a career in the football industry, with options to be supported by gaining coaching qualifications, and being able to gain experience in a variety of roles such as physiotherapy, coaching, match analysis and others working with the Marine FC 1st team.

The education and football coaching programme will be delivered by qualified and experienced tutors and football coaches employed by Elite Sports Academy and College League games will be played at the Marine Travel Arena. Marine FC and Elite Sports Academy are now launching a student recruitment campaign and the entry criteria only requires footballers aged 16-18.

U-16 girls teams are invited to attend a tournament hosted by Elite and Marine FC on Thursday, 28th March 2019 starting at 6pm which will also act as an open evening to the scheme. Any individuals interested in the scheme can also attend the event and will be placed on a trialist team in the tournament.

Teams or individual students interested in attending the event should contact Elite Sports Academy coordinator Chris on 07919550067 or by email to chris@eliteschools.co.uk Further information about Elite can be obtained by accessing their website www.eliteschools.co.uk
