Saddened officials at the EVO-STIK NPL First Division South club announced the death of their chairman and president at the age of 89 on Wednesday.
In brief statement, the Vics said: “We are extremely sad and devastated to report that chairman and life-long fan Derek Nuttall passed away this morning.”
Pictured last season collecting a fair play award from EVO-STIK NPL chairman Mark Harris, the stalwart had been a Vics fan since seeing his first game at their old Drill Field home at the age of eight.
In the intervening decades, Mr Nuttall had been involved as a board member, secretary and chairman as well as holding numerous other roles and continued to play a part in the day-to-day running of his beloved club.
Since announcing his passing, the Vics have been flooded with messages of condolences on social media with many paying tribute to a "true gentleman and club legend."
