Vill earns second season in charge

Vill Powell and his touchline team are looking forward to guiding Brighouse Town in the EVO-STIK League next season after a successful first term in charge.

The former Sheffield Wednesday striker and his staff will be at the helm for the 2018-19 campaign after chairman Charles Tolley told the media their future at St Giles Road was never in doubt before their 3-2 win over Ramsbottom United on Monday night, the club's final home game of the season in EVO-STIK League North before heading to Droylsden on the last day.

Speaking to the Brighouse Echo since Powell secured the club's status in the Northern Premier League last week with a big victory over Clitheroe, Tolley said: “Vill has done a remarkable job after being left with just five of last season’s successful squad to form the foundations of a squad. He is a top qualified coach with excellent man management skills and has certainly brought players in over the season who will form a solid backbone to other targets he has already marked down to come to the club."

Powell was appointed last summer to build on Paul Quinn's successful six years in charge and Tolley added: “It is his first job in management and he has shown the committee and myself he is the man for the job to take us forward and he has already mapped out his pre-season and further plans for the club which we will be revealing in the next few weeks.”
