Waiting game for Morgan and Hogg

New Colwyn Bay boss Alan Morgan and former defender Craig Hogg will formally take charge of the EVO-STIK League's Seagulls after their trip to Kendal Town on Saturday.

The duo, unveiled as the club's new management team on Thursday night, will watch their new charges from the stands at Parkside Road as current player-coach Anthony Griffith and goalkeeping coach Jack Horner take charge.

Pictured flanking Colwyn Bay chairman Dave Titchiner, Welsh-born Morgan and ex-Seagulls defender Hogg, right, were appointed as the successors to Phill Hadland and his touchline team following their exit from Llanelian Road on Monday.

The 44-year-old former Abertystwyth Town boss and number two at Bangor City parted company with Llandudno in October after a hugely successful five-year spell, lifting the club from near the foot of the Cymru Alliance in 2012 to the title and a place in the Welsh Premier League by the end of the 2014-15 season with Hogg as his skipper.

Locally-based Hogg, 36, played for the Bay in 2004-5 after being released by Everton before joining Llandudno. Together, the pair played key roles in the most successful period in Tudno's history as the club qualified for the Europa League last season and played IFK Gotenborg of Sweden in one of their biggest ever games.

The former Tranmere Rovers star and full-time youth development coach at the National League club told supporters the pair couldn't wait to get started turning around the club's fortunes after being introduced to the Seagulls squad at training on Thursday night.

Morgan, who also played for Doncaster Rovers, Morecambe, Connah's Quay Nomads and Bangor City after injury curtailed his career, said: "I had an exciting few years at Llandudno, but I've always wanted to have a go in the English system and being just down the road from Colwyn Bay and always looking for their results, this is a job I've always wanted to get my hands on."

He added: "I was at the game last Saturday against Droylsden and there are good players here; they just need to play with a smile on their faces and go out and show what good players they are."

Colwyn Bay chairman Dave Titchiner said: "Alan has been very successful in Welsh football and is very keen to go up the ladder in the English pyramid. He wants the team to play good football and the players here have shown in spells that they are capable of that.

"Its nice for a Welsh club to have a Welsh manager and hopefully we can be successful together. It shows the reputation of the club that we have had 24 applications for the manager's job and I would like to thank every one them for their interest and the faith in us they have shown by applying."
