Despite enjoying more of the possession and goalscoring chances, the hosts couldn't find a way through a resolute Seadogs' rearguard or goalkeeper Nick Draper, who was outstanding.
What eventually proved to be the only goal of the game came as early as the second minute when Tom Corner challenged Vics` keeper Mason Springthorpe for a long ball, beats him to it and headed home.
This was Scarborough`s fourth game without defeat, although an overall dismal season probably can`t come to an end quick enough for their fans, who were expecting to be challenging at the top end of the table.
Defeat for Vics leaves them 13 points behind Warrington with three games in hand, so an exciting finale to the title race can still be anticipated.
