Jacob Hazel's 10th minute strike earned mid-table Frickley Athletic three points in a largely backs-to-the-wall performance against play-off chasing Nantwich Town.
A depleted home side dug in to deserve the win against a Dabbers side that put severe pressure on the Blues' defence at times but when it was breached Sebastian Malkowski was in no mood to be beaten.
Defeat leaves Nantwich 12 points behind fifth-placed Workington AFC but with games in hand still due mainly to their FA Trophy run.
Meanwhile, at Kirkby Road, another top five contender's poor run of results continued after a disappointing display from Barwell saw them slip to a fifth consecutive defeat in the league against relegation-threatened Stamford AFC.
A single goal in the 39th minute from Curtis Hartley was enough to take the points for the Daniels but the Canaries did have their chances to score only to see them go begging.
Defeat leaves the Leicestershire side seven points behind fifth spot but they have only five games remaining. However, the points for Stamford lifted them level on points with fourth-bottom Whitby Town and to within two of the safety-mark.
